Join a walking tour that introduces both the visible and invisible aspects of Kannelmäki’s history! During the tour, participants will have the opportunity to compare current-day Kannelmäki to different historical points, even with some surprises along the way. The tour brings the past to life: you can learn about legends that lived in the area, including Antti the Settler from the 17th century. The participants will also get a chance to meet the creator of Unelma (Dream), a unique sculpture that reached new heights in the centre of Sitratori.
The walking tour starts at Kannelmäki Church and ends with a concert at Kanneltalo. The final concert features 17th-century Baroque music interwoven with small poetic stories. The poems represent Finnish artists from different periods, from Aleksis Kivi to Eeva-Liisa Manner and Ilpo Tiihonen, as well as some poets who were influenced by the Kaarela area. The poetry will be recited in Finnish.
Kanneltalo is producing this performance as a part of its 30th-anniversary celebration.
The walking route from the church to Kanneltalo is not entirely accessible. In the event of inclement weather, the tour will be modified.
Note: On October 15th, you have the opportunity to participate in a walking tour that ends with a concert at Kanneltalo at 3:15 pm.
