Bach & sons
Georg Kallweit, violin and direction
Tapiola Sinfonietta
Georg Kallweit, a specialist in historically informed performance practice, delves into the instrumental music of the Bach family, leading from the violin.
From Johann Sebastian Bach’s works, we will hear his E-major violin concerto as well as his well-known second orchestral suite, this time with a violin instead of a flute as the solo instrument.
Of the sons of “Father Bach”, Carl Philipp Emanuel’s and Wilhelm Friedmann’s symphonies stand out, already giving a hint of the new styles to come.
We can also include Georg Philipp Telemann as a member of the Bach family circle, as he was a close friend of J.S. Bach and Carl Philipp Emanuel’s godfather. In addition to his intimate string sonata, the concert features an impressive multi-faceted orchestral suite in g minor from Telemann’s gigantic compositional output.
The same programme will be presented on Wednesday, 29 September 2021 at 6:00 pm in Tammisaari Church.
This concert is organised in cooperation with Tapiola Sinfonietta.
