Antti Tikkanen


Antti Tikkanen, who ended up in Helsinki after some twists and turns from his hometown of Oulainen in Northern Ostrobothnia, began studying violin at the age of 7. Some of his most important teachers include Tomasz Orzech at the Jokilaakso Music School and Mi-Kyung Lee at the Sibelius Academy, as well as later Kreeta-Maria Kentala. Tikkanen is a member of the internationally sought-after and acclaimed string quartet Meta4. With his successful period as the artistic director of the Finnish Baroque Orchestra from 2014 to 2017, he has since been invited to other orchestras as a soloist, leader or guest concertmaster. Tikkanen has recorded chamber music and solo repertoire as a soloist and director for record labels such as ECM, BIS, Ondine, Hänssler Classics and Alba. Antti Tikkanen is, alongside his wife and violinist Minna Pensola, the artistic director of Punavuori Chamber Music.
