THE PRINCESS AND THE SWINEHERD
In the musical tale based on H. C. Andersen’s fairy tale The Swineherd we hear music by Charpentier, Vivaldi, Land, Lully and Uccellini. The concert tells the timeless story about princess Anneli and prince Urmas, who is deeply in love with the princess. The picky, superficial and temperamental Anneli refuses to get engaged with Urmas due to the wrong proposal gift he brings to her. Urmas dresses up as a poor swineherd and eventually gets her to understand that the most important things in life are genuine and can’t be measured with goods and fortune. And that the most important of all is love. Also the audience becomes a part of the concert parade as applauding court crowd. The artists are Anni Elonen (narrator, violin, glockenspiel), Louna Hosia (cello, jouhikko) and Julia Tamminen (harpsichord, organ). The 35-minute long concert is suitable for children up to 10 years.
