The Dream is produced through the At the Roots project in Kaarela by Finnish Baroque Orchestra (FiBO). Also the Finnish National Theatre took part with its At the Arch project, together with different groups from Kaarela. Dream is a piece inspired by Henry Purcell's opera Fairy Queen and William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with a strong connection to Kaarela. Both baroque music professionals, actors, youngsters and amateurs from different fields come together to produce this performance.
What do you dream about? What kind of a dream would you never want to wake up from? During the spring these questions have been asked the people from the Kaarela area, and in the concert Dream the answers come to live through the music from the opera Fairy Queen. Dream reaches out to both the Kaarela people and people from elsewhere to dream together and enjoy the music with the baroque musicians.
FiBO’s At the Roots and the National Theatre’s At the Arch project are both examples of the Helsinki culture work where the local factor, participation amongst people, and different culture institutions in Helsinki are the key. At the Roots and At the Arch are produced in the Kaarela area.
