Roman Schatz

Roman Schatz was born in August 1960 in Germany on the Bodensee side of the shore. He went to school and fulfilled his military service in the Southern parts of Germany, and subsequently moved to West Berlin in 1980, where he studied Germanic and Roman philology, theatre and meteorology, of course without graduating. In 1985, he met a Finnish woman in the district of Wedding in Berlin and he followed her to Helsinki during the Tšernobyl summer in 1986 and has now been living in Helsinki ever since. Schatz works as an author, journalist, presenter, translator, speaker and actor. Ha has published about 30 books, written columns in several Finnish newspapers and magazines, been the host of many TV-shows and performed in numerous productions. Since 2013, he has been the host of the weekly live radio show Roman Schatz Maamme-kirja on the channel Yle Radio 1.
